Statement as of 11:42 AM CST on January 08, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 am to 9 PM CST Friday... A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 6 am to 9 PM CST Friday. Snow is expected to develop across western Minnesota this evening... spread eastward across central and south central Minnesota overnight... and reach west central Wisconsin by daybreak Friday. Snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches will be common across the advisory area by Friday evening... which includes locations along and south of a northern Twin Cities to Eau Claire Wisconsin line. Snow will persist through the day on Friday... and gradually taper off on Friday evening. Northwest winds will become gusty in the wake of the snowfall on Friday night... which could result in areas of blowing and drifting snow. A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving. |
